A Foley balloon catheter is a sterile, flexible indwelling tube inserted into the bladder to continuously drain urine, secured in place by an inflatable retention balloon. Function: Used for short- or long-term urinary retention, post-surgical drainage, and continuous bladder irrigation. Design Types: Available in 2-way (drainage and balloon inflation) or 3-way (adds an irrigation port) configurations.
